Reaction Engineering
CHAPTER 1
Today is the first class for Reaction Engineering course. There is a recap session for chapter 1 and at the end of the class, we have to relate what we have learned with our daily life and discuss it in our own group. Then, we have to present through video. I kinda lost because it is my first time having this type of learning in class. Honestly, I prefer the previous learning style but that is for me. During the discussion, I am blur as I cannot generate creative ideas in pressure of time and I have lack knowledge about the application matter. Hence, I need to improve myself in that matter through reading more materials about the course and be well prepared before coming to class. In conclusion, our group could make better if all of us are well prepared for the class. If I make the same mistake, I will try another method by consulting with lecturer.

CHAPTER 2
Today, the class started with a recap session and followed by previous quiz discussion. Then we did some problems through jigsaw activity. It was fun and I got to team up with different coursemate to solve the problem. We could solve the problem by giving ideas and correct each other if mistakes were done. However, due to the time constraints, the gallery walk was done in a rush and I could not grab part of the problems. Hence, I need to pay more attention and ask question if I do not understand what others are trying to deliver. I also need to revise the problems and do them again after class. If this situation happen again, I will refer to my fellow coursemate or lecturers after the class.

CHAPTER 3
In chapter 3, I learned about rate law, activation energy, how to draw stoichiometric table for batch system and flow system. The videos helped me to understand better on this chapter. Besides, chapter 3 is quite related to the previous chapters and hence I could easily understand the concept. However, I think my understanding on this chapter is only on the surface level as I could not answer problems for chapter 3 in class without the guidance and hints from the lecturer. It shows that I need to do more reading on this chapter or do more exercises related to this chapter so that I could easily solve problems for chapter 3 in future. In conclusion, I cannot depend on the videos only as it is not enough to understand more about reaction engineering and thus I need to read more about it in textbook. If I face the same problem again, I will ask help from my friends who are more intelligent or directly ask the lecturers.
For Team Game Tournament, in my opinion parts of it depend on our luck. If we chose an easy set of questions, we could score it and vice versa. As for me, I chose an intermediate question, I guess, so I could not solve one question because I did not know the right equations to be used. At the end, I only chose a random answer and unfortunately, luck was not on my side, as I got it wrong. I hope for the next tournament, the questions will be at least at the same level for all to make it fair. Thank you.

CHAPTER 4
In Chapter 4, I learned about the 5 steps method which are mole balance, rate law, stoichometry, combine and evaluate. Besides I learned the differences between reactor in series and parallel. For this topic, in the first class, I was in blur state. I could not understand what Dr Raihan tried to teach. However, in the next class, I could understand and managed to solve the problems given as I revised what I've learned before coming to class. I also could know my mistake by participating in solving problems in class. Although I did a lot of mistakes by mentioning wrong unit, it helped me alot to remember as experiences teach us alot. Hence, preparation before attending class and participating actively in class are very important. My understanding in this topic is very shallow because I think I could only solve the same type problems that I have did in class. If I am given with some tricky problems, I think I could not solve them. I need to overweigh this problem by doing extra exercises on this topic so I am familiar with different type of problems on this topic. I should refer to Dr Raihan if I am still like this. Thank you.

CHAPTER 5
In this chapter, I learned that there are two methods to analyse rate data which are by differential method and integral method. For this chapter, we were given task to create two questions per group. The questions should follow the rubric to get higher marks. At first, I was shocked because this was my first time to make questions with the answer schemes. Besides, I felt like we did work twice as we must create the questions and then we, ourselves also had to answer the questions. Through this experience, I got to learn more about this chapter because we cannot do questions that are not related with chapter 5. By hook or by crook, we need to study this chapter deeply to make fantastic questions with wise answers. However, there will be clashing of same questions with other groups and marks will be deducted for that. Hence, we got an idea to change the values by multiplying them and we also changed the situations for the questions. If we did refer more reference books, we could do better questions with answers but that was the best that we could do.

CHAPTER 6
This chapter was taught through videos that had been uploaded at youtube. For this chapter, I learned about multiple reactions in parallel or series and how to maximise the desired product through few cases. To make us have better understanding about this topic, PBL was introduced to us. To complete this PBL, we referred few articles given and other articles so that we could come up with a good reactor design. Through this activity, I learned on how to extract points from articles and how to manipulate the formulas given in the articles. I also learned teamwork was very important for this type of task. We distributed tasks by giving each member one article to save time. It shows that we need to be independent to finish the PBL by the dateline. We made meeting for few times to discuss about this but we could not solve it. We collaborated with other groups to get a solution and we managed to do it in a team. If I encounter with the same problem, I will ask for help from others as we did for PBL.

CHAPTER 8
For chapter 8, there was no video lecture but there were lecture note and exercises given to us before class. During the class, we solved the problems with the help of Dr Raihan and I could understand a little of chapter 8 thanks to that. We also did take home test based on chapter 8 and was given a week to complete the task. During that time, I felt worry if I could not do the best for my take home test as it will affect my coursemarks. What's good about it is it help us to understand how to solve the problem step by step and the bad part is I do not know whether I did it correctly or not. Thus, I referred the textbook to understand better and managed to make a question with its solution. I also asked few friends to help me and thanks to them, my curiosity disappeared bit by bit. I hope I will get good marks although I did some mistakes in take home test.

Crystallization
In crystallization topic, I learned how crystals are formed, the solubility curve and how to calculate the crystal yields. For me, I could easily understand the calculation part as I have learned the concept previously in PCE. The problems given were easy to solve although there were some tricks. However, I am very weak for theory part like the equipments and the solubility curve. I am still blurred on how each equipments work although we had did the jigsaw session and how to explain the curve. Hence, I need to read more materials on this part, not only refer to the lecture notes given so that I could have a wide view and a clear explaination. I also could consult with Dr Ekmi if I am still in confusion. If this is still happening, I need to fix my intention of learning. I study to gain knowledge, besides to strive an excellence results.

adsorption
For adsorption, I learned the definition of adsorption, the adsorbate and adsorbent, type of isotherms, material balance for batch systems and flow systems. It is a quite difficult topic as most of it are new to me. It makes me know more on how water is treated through adsorption. The exercises given by Dr Ekmi hepled me alot to know what type of questions will be asked for this topic. Although there were some confusions for me before, I managed to clear the confusions through the exercises given. In short, problems or exercises given really help me to answer the test last week. If I am confused again, I will refer to the past exercises that I have did or refer to the ones who are expert in this topic.

ion exchange
I learned the differences between adsorption and ion exchange. I also learned few formulas related to this chapter. For this topic, I remember vaguely as it was a short and sweet chapter. Luckily we did recap on this chapter in the next class by exchanging notes with our partner and it helped me to remember back what I had learned. I got that in 24 hours I could forget everything that I have learned and in my opinion, this chapter is a difficult chapter as I am not familiar with the formulas and we did not do much problems on ion exchange. For me, exercises or tutorials help me to have a clear view and understanding about a chapter as I am exposed to different type of questions that may be asked in tests or final. Hence, I need to refer textbook to get more questions on this chapter.

MEMBRANE SEPARATION
For membrane separation, we were given articles and a set of questions before class and we need to solve the questions before coming to class. We need to spend our time to read the articles and extract the correct answers from it. It helped me to pre-understand the topic. We did few exercises so that we could understand better and it really helped me alot. After revising this chapter for Test 2, I understand more about this chapter on the derivation part and also the formulas. I could conclude that pressure help me to understand and remember everything about this topic.

EVAPORATION
I learned the heat and material balance for evaporation. Besides, I also learned how to draw diagram for single evaporator and also multiple evaporators. I also learned the calculation for dilute and concentrated solution. We also solved few problems for this topic. For me this topic is simple and easy to understand. The challenging part is the concentrated solution as we need to refer graph and chart to get the boiling point and the energy. Tutorial questions helped me to understand and refresh back what I had learned in class. The questions were quite sufficient for me to do my best for Test 2. However, I tend to forget the formula for multiple effect of evaporators as I did not focus on this part. Hence, I need to focus on every part so that I will not repeat the same mistake again. Overall, I enjoy learning evaporation.
